Score a Free iPod
We are doing something unheard of in our area and something that many people are calling us crazy for doing. We're giving away a brand new Apple iPod Touch to one lucky follower of ours on Facebook or Twitter. Once we hit 1,000 "likes" on Facebook, we'll be holding a random drawing and one lucky follower will win a new Apple iPod Touch.
You can call us crazy if you want, but if you don't follow us on Facebook or Twitter... you'll be missing out. Visit:

Malware / Roguewear
Malware or malicious software is software designed to infiltrate a computer system without the consent of the owner. While rogueware is malicious software masked under a rather meaningful software file. These can be quite dangerous with what they do- they impersonate a valid spyware removal program which asks for money to remove the virus. The infiltration of computer data and applications by cyber criminals such as malware and rogueware has increased to such a great extent that every day numerous individuals and companies fall prey to it.
There are a few ways to help stay safe from rogueware/malware -
First, any reputable software company will not send you advertisements via a pop-up. Your anti-spyware and anti-virus programs will do it automatically. Second, no reputable company will charge you upfront for getting rid of virus-attack. Third, notice the name of the antivirus that has popped. If it’s not the company from where you have installed your software, avoid it completely.
Always run a thorough and genuine anti-virus scan on a regular basis in order to rid your PC of such hazardous software. You can also contact TimbukTech, Inc. for more information on our IT Service Saver solution which monitors and removes viruses before they have a chance to do any damage.

Tips for Going Green
You may have started changing your home to meet the requirements of ‘living the green way’, but that does not mean your office should be neglected. Here are a few tips of how you could go green at work –
- Electricity accounts for most of the expense at offices. Ensure you curtail its consumption by switching off lights when they are not used. Try out light bulbs or fixtures with an automated shut-off and that consume two-thirds less energy in comparison to others.
- Computers too, hog on loads of electricity. You should take it upon you to switch off your PC when done for the day or on a break. An option of customizing computers on a sleep mode while not in use is also available and should be considered.
- Another important point is to use paper only when necessary. If the document can be used online why not do it? Utilize online files, manuals or brochure rather than taking to printing.
If done with dedication and presence of mind, going green at work should be a ‘walk-in-the-park’. And when one goes green, the others will follow.

Speed up menu display:
Microsoft Windows uses many visual effects to provide a rich, friendly interface. One of these settings allows menus to fade into view when you open them. This visual effect is so smooth that you may never have noticed it; however, the effect does cause menus to take a little longer to appear. On a fast computer, this shouldn't be an issue. But on a computer that isn’t responding as quickly as you'd like, you can make menus display faster. Learn How
